Career Review

I started playing table tennis at the age of 14, where 99% of the time it is too late to start a career in any sport. Even though, possessing this handy-cap I still dreamed and believed I could become world champion one day. I got into the top ten in England and in my last year as junior I qualified for the Masters (top 12). I believed I could only fulfil my dreams if I trained with the best players in the world. So at the age of 17 I found myself in France on my own in a little room with little money and my destiny in front of me! France was the second best nation in table tennis at the time and I was honoured to be in its foot path. I trained almost every day with everyone and anyone. I quickly progressed playing for my club (Fontenay Sous Bois) and was surrounded by current and former top table tennis stars.

Unfortunately reality struck me at the age of 18, I realised that it takes a lot more than just the will to win in order to become a top table tennis player. I possessed the talent, the athletic build, desire and ability but I lacked the most important factor in a sportsmen’s career ‘TIME’. So I decided to go back to England and pursue a career in coaching the sport I love. I attempted to keep playing while I coached and managed to creep into the senior national team through (TASS). I also played one season in the German Bunds-Liga, where I was fortunate enough to learn many things and play against many top players. But once again my career as a player was hampered due to my coaching responsibilities, my game was affected and I did not possess the killer instinct I once herald.

Finally I decided to pack it all in and give it my all as a coach where I found myself gaining more joy than when I played myself. The dream of becoming world champion is still alive through the kids I coach. I want to produce world class players in hope of achieving my childhood dream, of becoming world and Olympic champion.

Myself, club and youth are all willing to represent and promote a company/organisation, that would sponsor us. The kids can be seen at all small and large tournament events. Majority of the events are published/publised in local and national newspapers and on our website. Further more the sponsor would benefit via the most powerful tool in business ‘word of mouth’ through out the country.

Hoping you will look favorably on my request for sponsorship for the future of my up and coming young stars.

Thanking you in anticipation.
